CityFlatsHotel-Sarah and Greg

CityFlatsHotel

Congratulations to Greg and Sarah!! What a beautiful celebration for these two!

The couple met, back in the day, working at TGI Fridays. Sarah was wooed by Greg's tacky excuses to keep talking to her and hanging around her hostess stand. They have been together for five and a half years. Greg proposed on a bitterly cold December night. After strolling through downtown, checking out the new fudge shop that just opened, he brought Sarah to the top of the hill by the skating rink and Christmas trees at Rosa Parks Circle. He bent down on one knee and had a speech prepared just for her.

The entire wedding day was absolutely stunning. The shots of Greg waiting for Sarah down the aisle are priceless. They were only possible because City Flats allowed me to go anywhere I wished during the ceremony! So nice!! I was so happy that the rain held off for us and we could stroll through downtown and go back to the place where Greg proposed to get some beautiful shots around Rosa Parks Circle. I love the images around the GRAM. We ran into my new friend playing the sax! It was perfect! I met him when I was scouting weeks earlier for Sarah and Greg's big day. Nothing like taking a stroll downtown with sax music playing on your wedding day... Back at the venue, the lighting was really fun to play with all through the dancing. Again, so many favorites and I couldn't post them all. I tried. There is a limit on this thing...

St Andrews and Laketown Golf and Conference Center-Jenna and Jake

Cathedral of St. Andrew, Grand Rapids, MI

Laketown Golf and Conference Center, Saugatuck, MI

Congratulations Jenna and Jake!! What a beautiful day! September 19, 2014.

Jenna and Jake were actually a bridesmaid and groomsman in a wedding that I photographed years ago (Dave and Tara Bozaan! Yay!). They were super fun and goofy, so I was really excited when I was asked to document their big day! It was great to see the same friends and family for another wedding!!

The ceremony took place at the beautiful and inspiring Cathedral of St. Andrew (which happens to be my church!). It was absolutely GORGEOUS. The church bells and chimes sent the couple off, just like in the fairy-tales. From there we took a long, scenic drive through the countryside, stopping for some quick photos at the beach, and then heading out to dance, dance, dance.

Jenna and Jake have traveled all over the world together. There was a photo on each of the tables at the reception of the two of them in some exotic location looking tan, adventurous, and happy. I loved that.

Wishing you two many more adventures!

Special thanks to my talented second photographer, Kimburley Sue Timlin. Thank you so much!! Do you know what is better than having a great photographer for your wedding? Having two great photographers for your wedding. Ask me for details!

Marquette, MI Wedding, Allison and Brad

The Landing
Marquette, MI

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Deters!! Allison and Brad just make sense. You can tell this from your first encounter with both of them. They are goofy, funny, laid-back, warm, and always full of laughter!! Their story is so cute. They met online and on their first date, in Grand Rapids, Brad forgot/lost his keys. Allison ended driving him to Holland, probably laughing hysterically the whole way.  That laugh!! It's so awesome. I just wait for Brad to start talking and concentrate on her face for the reaction. Best photo models ever.

After their engagement session, Allison asked me if I would travel to Marquette for the wedding. I was so excited to photograph them again I shrieked like a little girl. These two are just loads of fun!! I just want to be around them.

The big day was at The Landing, in downtown Marquette. After the ceremony, the ENTIRE group of guests and bridal party hopped on the party bus for some UP scenery and photo stops. So fun! The smaller group made the day more intimate and everyone got to know one another well. I could have photographed them all day with the gorgeous Lake Superior in the background, but we had a Batman cake to cut, you know. Yes, that cake had two sides.  As Allison put it, "I may have a nice gown, this may be an elegant affair, but we have to keep a little of the goofy and crazy." Well said.

Thank you both so much for sharing your story with me!
