Grand Rapids Winter Engagement- Jessica and Shane

Grand Rapids, MI

Congratulations to Jessica and Shane! What an amazingly sweet couple. They were such troopers, to want to be in the frigid, frigid cold for this session. Brrr.

The two met as co-workers years ago. They had to keep their relationship a secret because they were working together- even from best friends. It all sounds very sneaky and romantic. Years later, Jess and Shane found themselves building a house in Muskegon. They were on a walk by the lake one day, when Shane stopped at a gazebo and proposed. The proposal was caught on film, by someone working on the house with them. Sneaky sneaky.

Both Jess and Shane were all smiles at this session. I know they were just trying to stay warm, but I love how connected they were, and very natural. We shot downtown Grand Rapids, starting at the famous Blue Bridge. Then we strolled through the snow to warm up with some coffee, and stopped by the skating rink at Rosa Parks Circle. It was a beautiful night.

I love their story and I am very grateful that they chose me to capture it!! I can't wait for this wedding in September. Stay tuned...

Ann Arbor Wedding- Tom and Michael

St. Andrews, Ann Arbor MI
Vinology, Ann Arbor MI

Congratulations to Tom and Michael! What a laid-back and happy couple. Tom and Michael met online and then at church, and have been together since that first meeting five years ago. Their lifelong goal is "to own a lakeside bed and breakfast where Tom will do all of the cooking and baking and Michael will manage the front of house, and yes, we both do realize just how gay that really sounds." By the way, Michael made all the individual cakes at the wedding. I had crème brule cake and it was spectacular.

The proposal--Thomas decided that he would like to celebrate St. Nicholas Day with Michael. "Two stockings and one glitter pen later, ... Michael found a special small box at the bottom of his stocking." Tom got on one knee and proposed to Michael.

I am so honored to capture the big day! Thank you fellas so much. I wish you the best and a very Happy St. Nicholas Day this year!

Here is a preview of the day:

Gaslight Village Engagement Session, Maryann and Joe

Grand Rapids, MI Congratulations to Maryann and Joe!! What an adorable, funny, and laid-back couple. I always like the silly ones. These guys were such a blast that I cannot wait for this wedding next year!!

The two met at school, Grand Valley. Seven years later, Joe proposed to Maryann while on a weekend trip in Chicago. They were in front of The Bean when it happened and some stranger on the street videotaped the whole thing for them. Now, I wish I could've photographed that! The Bean? So cool.

So, for this engagement session, we grabbed some coffee and trucked out into the super quaint streets of Gaslight Village.  It was downright chilly. They were troopers. I had so much fun documenting their date night.

Here's a sneak peek of their engagement session:
