I was so grateful to take a break and head up north this past holiday weekend! With the to-do lists that never end, the anxiety of a busy season, more racing thoughts of that to-do list... Summertime goes by so fast here in Michigan, so it's imperative to take the time to do absolutely nothing. Laze around, listen to the loons, smell the fresh cut grass, just enjoy the sun... This was a weekend of fishing, kayaking, canoeing, ice cream, pancakes, coffee on the porch in our pj's reading magazines, the beach, campfires, marshmallows as big as your face...
I did my best to create a Pinterest surprise for my niece and nephews, to no avail. Fail. The bubbles never glowed in the dark. But! The glow in the dark bowling was a hit! Until the mosquitoes swarmed. It was a really good five minutes, though.
I can't wait to get back to our little "vacation house" and do some more nothing.
MCKAY TOWER, FOUNTAIN STREET CHURCH - Christina and Rodney
Amway Grand Plaza
McKay Tower
Fountain Street Church
Grand Rapids, MI
Congratulations Christina and Rodney! What a cute couple they are! So, so sweet on each other. They met as freshmen at Western Michigan University, at a party. They had a lunch date in one of the dorms, and stayed together for eight years. The ups and downs that everyone faces as a couple only made them that much stronger. They moved to Atlanta in 2015. Big city livin' and sunshine! Getting acclimated to a new city without their friends and family was challenging, but they have always been better together and saw it through.
Rodney proposed on Friday the 13th (spooky). They were with both families at their favorite restaurant, Martel's. She had no idea what was coming. They were waiting on Rodney's brother to show up, and Rodney was so anxious and nervous that as soon as he did, he popped up and proposed right away.
They had a theme at McKay - a mix of Great Gatsby, prohibition, etc. (due to their love for expanding their wine and bourbon knowledge). It was truly beautiful. I knew as soon as I entered the guys room at the beginning of the day that I would be laughing for the rest of it. This was a great group of people.
I'm very honored to document Christina and Rodney's story. Enjoy the preview!
Riverside Park Engagement -Kristyn and Adam
Grand Rapids, MI
Congratulations to Kristyn and Adam! These two met working together at Meijer. They'd been together for about five years when Adam surprised her with the proposal. They were hanging out with family, when in walks her nephew, wearing a shirt that says, "Will you be my uncle?", and "Will you be my aunt?". Her sister was videotaping the whole thing.
The wedding will be at Sunnybrook Country Club in Grandville this fall, so stay tuned!
We had a glorious fall day, in June, for this session at Riverside. It was breezy and beautiful, strolling around, talking about plans, honeymoons, and Zach Galifianakis (did you see that movie? "Masterminds"-- with the engagement session!? Loved it. I want to pose a couple like that sometime just for fun).
I can't wait for this wedding! Enjoy the preview!
